This is one of the subareas found in the family planning section of the database. All indicators for this area include a definition, data requirements, data source(s), purpose, issues and—if relevant—gender implications.
FAMILY HEALTH ASSESSMENT To assess a family’s level of health in a systematic fashion, three tools are needed: (1) a conceptual framework on which to base the assessment.
(2) a clearly defined set of assessment categories for data collection. (3) a method for measuring a family’s level of functioning. The indicators are used to assess the health of the country, facilitate collaboration across sectors, and motivate action to improve health at the national, state, and community levels.
The Leading Health Indicators were selected and organized using a “Health Determinants and Health Outcomes by Life Stages” conceptual framework. 7.
